Arto van Hasselt
I am a Belgian painter and artist based in Amsterdam. My art practice revolves around my interest in the outline of individual bodies fading as they enter in porous relations with non-humans, objects, data, images and flux of exchanges. Influenced by western history of images and my own experience of globalised mass production, I use grotesque, pop and painterly visual language to bridge heterogenous iconographies.
Each of my paintings are a self standing univers, a network of abstract signs that shifts meaning as they enter in relation with each other.
