Lena Longefay

Lena Longefay is currently based between The Hague and the Beaujolais region. She studied a BA in Ecole Supérieur d’Art et de Design in Grenoble, France and then graduated from the MA Artistic Research in the Royal Academy of Fine Art in the Hague.

Lena Longefay considers her multidiciplinary practice as a composition, a constant research process of shaping and sharing. With her work, she aims at generating communities within which art making makes sense. She plays on subverting normalized representations by questioning economics and politics of commonness. Using feminist lenses, her working method is as spontaneous as a ditty, it embraces instability and imperfection.

She is at the moment training in wine tasting techniques and developping a research dealing with topics of wine making, its economy and impact on climate change.
Longefay had the opportunity to share her work in Stroom Den Haag, Quartair (Den Haag), Ruiltevaart (Den Haag), PIP Den Haag, Mama Rotterdam, Kunstpodium T (Tilburg), Palais de Tokyo (Paris) or Galerie Hors-Cadre (Auxerre).

She is part of the experimental cooking duo Lena&Ale together with artist Alejandra Lopez since 2020. Moreover, she develops since 2022 the “Try-Out Galler”, a feedback breakfast event for local artists, once a month in Stroom Den Haag.
