Sander Coers
| Sander Coers is a photographer based in Rotterdam whose work fuses the boundaries of documentary and fiction. With a tender and intimate gaze, he visualizes new perceptions of masculinity while exploring the complexities of love, friendship, and self-discovery through his own experiences and those of his generation.
Coers’ visual language is deeply inspired by the nostalgic memories of his youth in Zeeuws-Vlaanderen, infusing vivid hues and profound emotions into his portraits, stills, and landscapes to create dreamlike and melancholic worlds. Sander received his BA in Photography with honours from the Willem de Kooning Academy in Rotterdam in 2021. His graduation project, “Come Home,” was selected for Best of Graduates 2021 and nominated for several awards. He has self-published this project as a photobook, and has received the RM Photo Award before being named Rising Star of 2022 by the Dutch newspaper NRC. His work has been acquired by the Rabobank, the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and several leading private collectors, including Reyn van der Lugt and Laurent Germain. |
