Nathalie Hartjes

Nathalie Hartjes works as a writer, consultant, researcher and mentor in the arts and culture sector, particularly in the visual arts.
She studied Art History and Archeology at Leiden University. From 2015 to 2022 (April) she was director of MAMA, platform for visual culture and young talent. Before that she worked at Nieuwe Vide, de Appel arts center and Kunstinstituut Melly, among others. Guiding young talent is the common thread in her professional life.
Since May 2022 she has been involved as a freelancer in a wide variety of projects: She developed the digital platform www.p1projects.org for the curatorial collective P1 and supervised the junior curators in their research for the Biennale Gelderland. She is part of the mentor team of Culture + Entrepreneurship for the schemes for art venues and artists who have received a contribution from the Mondriaan Fund. In addition, she provides strategic advice to art organizations in the field of organizational development and program (including Kunsthuis SYB, Roodkapje, Rib Art Space).
She is currently investigating a personal family history surrounding a mysterious business relationship of her father in Indonesia in the 1990s.
